Does the world need nuclear power?

The debate on nuclear power has been pretty quiet in the Netherlands in recent years. Plans for the construction of new plants have been canceled. And the new Climate Agreement doesn’t even mention the nuclear option. Nevertheless, other countries around us are building power plants. And the climate crisis has some scientists and environmentalists reconsider it. Their argument: nuclear power creates a stable energy supply with little emissions. On the other hand, power from wind and sun is getting cheaper and the problem of nuclear waste is still not solved. Is the debate on nuclear power outdated?
